Richmond Police car wrecked while nabbing murder suspect

A white-knuckle, 12-minute high-speed pursuit of a gang member wanted on murder charges on Friday, ended with four arrests and one wrecked police cruiser. The pursuit began at around 5:10 p.m. Friday when officers spotted Miguel Ortiz, a suspected Sureño gang member, at the St. John’s Apartment complex on MacDonald Avenue.

Candlelight vigil held in memory of Richard “Pedie” Perez III in Richmond

Family and friends gathered for a candlelight vigil in front of Uncle Sam’s Liquor Store in Richmond in memory of Richard Perez III, 24, who was shot and killed there during a confrontation with a Richmond police officer in the early morning hours of Sept. 14. Daytime shooting injures two in Target parking lot

Shots were fired yesterday evening in the Target parking lot on Macdonald Ave., injuring two victims. One, a 17-year-old boy, was critically wounded, according to Richmond police. Both were admitted to Doctors Medical Center in San Pablo.
