San Pablo man in critical condition after shooting in Richmond

on September 12, 2014

A San Pablo man was shot multiple times in Richmond’s Iron Triangle Thursday night.

Police rushed to the 2200 block of Ohio Avenue at about 10:05 p.m. after ShotSpotter sensors registered eight gunshots, according to Lt. Andre Hill. There they found a 43-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso.

The man was airlifted to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek where he underwent surgery. He is in critical condition, Hill said.

The victim walked westbound on Ohio Avenue when a silver four-door sedan pulled next to him, police said. A passenger exited the car and argued with the victim just before the shots were fired, Hill said.

The suspected shooter got back into the car and the vehicle fled southbound on South 22nd Street, Hill said.

Police have made no arrests.

Thursday’s shooting is the latest incident in a spate of violence that has struck Richmond in recent days. On Wednesday night, a man was stabbed and critically injured near 4th Street and MacDonald Avenue. Minutes after that stabbing, in the nearby 400 block of 5th Street, 52-year-old Anthony Bing was shot nine times and declared dead at the scene.

The incidents do not appear to be related, Hill said.

Bing’s killing is the ninth homicide this year in Richmond, which still remains on pace for a record-low annual homicide total.

Hmm it seems like your site ate my first comment (it was extremely
long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I had written and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying
your blog. I too am an aspiring blog writer but I’m still new to everything.
Do you have any tips for beginner blog writers? I’d certainly appreciate it.
