Oilers fall short, 46-19
on October 9, 2010
The Richmond Oilers lost to the Hercules Titans last night, 46-19.
The Oilers got off to a good start with Isaiah Brown’s touchdown, but three consecutive scores by the Titans in the 2nd quarter made the score 29-6.
In the 2nd half of the game, the Oilers came back, adding a touchdown by Danny McLane and another, his second of the night, from Isaiah Brown. After that, however, it was all Titans, scoring 17 unanswered points.
After the game, Oilers’ Coach Darryl Robinson said, “It’s gonna be better. For the most part, we still have a better team than last year. We’re not through.”
The Richmond Oilers’ next game will be on October 15th, against the El Cerrito Gauchos at 7pm.

The article conveyed what a sports story should. It’s especially impressive given the facts from the byline: the reporter is a non-native English speaker likely not familiar with American football (since I don’t know of any other country other than ours who live and die by it). I could only wish I had command of a second language like the reporter. Best wishes for a successful career.
The article was so badly written that it fails to tell about the game as a whole. Besides, her writing newsstories in English language will be many years in the making.
I think sports was difficult for her If the thema was different , she could write better than this !!
It is obvious that she is not a football fan. That is why she can’t write a story but facts. I guess it is not a matter of her writing skill.
I think it’s all about the knowledge of the game and nothing to do with her engligh. Football is a tough game to understand if it’s your first time to experience it, esp with so many ways to score & complicated rules. I would’ve had the same problem if I had to write a story about Cricket!! haha Good Job~ Just try to go watch the game more often! You’ll get there
