Richmond soccer club encourages Latino students to attend college

Raquel Orozco is from Mexico. She arrived in Richmond as a teenager and didn’t speak a word of English. Ten years after graduating from Richmond High, she is completing her Ph.D. in chemical engineering this year from UC Davis. Last Sunday, Orozco, along with 11 other Latino UC Davis students, hosted over 100 Richmond United Soccer Club players, family members and friends on their campus. Earth Day celebrations bring Richmond together

Richmond and North Richmond turned “green” on Saturday, celebrating the international Earth Day with a “Green” Panther Parade that was five times bigger than the one last year and several other events throughout the city.

Richmond catches March Madness

March Madness started today. March Madness, the NCAA men’s basketball championship tournament, is held in March and April every year. This year, the championship game falls on April 4, and will be held in Houston. In honor of this annual tradition, Richmond Confidential hopes to help you keep track of the madness with a breakdown of teams and game times. This project will be updated at the end of each day’s games to reflect game outcomes.

Renovated Nevin Community Center rejuvenates Iron Triangle neighborhood

For the past five months, the city of Richmond, along with a slew of partners, has worked to renovate Nevin Community Center. On Saturday, the community space will hold it’s grand reopening with activities, educational information, and food. For the people in the surrounding community, changes from inside the center are already being reflected within the Iron Triangle neighborhood.
