Woman killed near S. 4th Street and Florida Avenue
on March 21, 2014
A woman was shot and killed Thursday night in the Santa Fe neighborhood of Richmond, in the first homicide within the city’s boundaries this year. Last year, Richmond experienced 16 homicides, its lowest annual toll in decades.
Several officers who were patrolling nearby responded to South 4th Street and Florida Avenue after hearing gunshots and shot spotter activation around 10 p.m., Richmond Police spokeswoman Nicole Abetkov said. There the officers found a woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to her torso.
The woman, who Abetkov described as a white female in her late 30s or early 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said there is no known motive for the killing, and the victim’s name is being withheld until next of kin are found and notified.
A burgundy colored sedan was seen leaving the area, but police say there are no other leads.
Anyone with any information is asked to call RPD’s non-emergency number, (510) 233-1214, or the anonymous tip line, (510) 232-TIPS.
This article has been corrected to reflect the type of vehicle seen leaving the area, an earlier version had it as a van.

The housing authority property in this area of Richmond was meant for senior housing . Why were senior moved out and drug dealers were allowed to move in ? Where is the security ? Why not hire DP security to go house to house to check the plumbing , for mice extra and bring a drug dog ?. Clean up the housing authority properties and make our city safe . I wonder if you will find out the shooters came from Tim Jones housing authority properties managed by his crew ? Any truth to the rumors that they sold vouchers ?
That was my Niece they murdered..
