Actor W. Allen Taylor explores the life of his famous disc jockey father

W. Allen Taylor has brought his search for his father back to the front stage in Richmond. Taylor, the son of “Walkin’ Talkin’ Bill Hawkins,” one of the first black disc jockeys in the country, takes his audience on his quest to find out more about his father. In his one-man show, Taylor assumes the voices and roles of several characters as he explores his father’s life.
Spencer Whitney and Byrhonda Lyons got a chance to talk to Taylor while he was rehearsing at the East Bay Center for the Performing Arts. The show is set to run from February 17 to March 4. Click on the video above to see what Taylor is expecting for the show’s final run.
