Christmas party and free gifts Sunday in the name of Charlie Reid

Dozens of volunteers – many descendents of Charlie Reid, a North Richmond icon – plan to serve more than 1,000 children and parents with food and gifts at Sunday’s Charles Reid Christmas Party, an annual event supported by The Charles Reid Foundation. The event is scheduled for noon-4 p.m. Sunday in the Richmond PAL Community Center at 2200 Macdonald Ave.

Richmond youth share stories of struggle and hope

When Jamaya Walker’s father was murdered last March she cried so fiercely she became physically ill. She still has the bullet that took his life, but now, instead of weeping, she writes. “When you’re a daddy’s girl and your dad gets murdered, you don’t know what to do,” 14-year-old Walker said. “I just wrote all my emotions. I had to.” Walker will join other Richmond youth this Sunday at the East Bay Center for Performing Arts as RAW Talent presents…

You cooked for us, now we’ll cook for you! We debuted Richmond Cooks on this day last year, featuring several recipes from the kitchens of Richmond Confidential readers. This year, our staff has compiled some of our own favorite recipes. SS Red Oak Victory hosts Veterans Day celebration

Aboard the only surviving cargo ship produced in Richmond’s Kaiser Shipyards during WWII, the community gathered on Veterans Day to celebrate those that served their country.
