Kennedy’s preseason opener was a 1-0 loss against Salesian on Thursday evening. “It’s the first time Salesian has beat us in a long time,” Kennedy Coach Aaron Colacion said. He attributed the loss to the team’s need to refine basic skills like passing and moving the ball down the field. Forty-five minutes after scoring her first goal of the season, on a penalty shot, junior Joselyn Navarro couldn’t stop smiling. “It is like all of these mixed emotions,” Navarro said. “Because it was the first goal of the season and it was a penalty. So I feel good.”
On Wednesday night the Richmond Oilers (0-2-1) lost to the Monte Vista Mustangs (5-0-0) by the score of 2-1. On Wednesday night, in the Richmond high school cafeteria, the more than 40 players on the Oiler roster were congratulated on their successful season. Coaches thanked them for their efforts, certain players received awards for their play, and the team now has a trophy to document it.
