Richmond resident Demariee Lewis, an 18-year-old male, was found dead in San Francisco’s Bayview district early on Saturday morning.
The Mexican flag, carried carefully without touching the floor, dwarfed Marco Negrete, a diplomatic attaché from the Mexican Consulate General in San Francisco, as he carried it onto the stage in Richmond’s Restaurante la Revolución. From the stage, Negrete stood before the band’s instruments, and gazed out at hundreds of people who had gathered from all over the Bay Area to celebrate El Grito de Dolores – Mexican Independence Day. “¡Mexicanos!” he yelled. “¡Vivan los héroes que nos dieron la…
The Richmond Oilers volleyball team might face what looks like the Kennedy Eagles soccer team Tuesday after school if the Eagles volleyball team doesn’t get new volleyball uniforms in time.
Near the corner of Cutting Boulevard and 23rd Street, between an asphalt parking lot and a concrete sidewalk, surrounded by weeds and yellowed grass, is a dead tree.
Friday night’s 42-0 Salesian victory over Kennedy was an intense game for many supporters in the stands as they rose and fell in waves while the Eagles and Pride fought on the field. For eight weeks Kaiser hires a boot camp instructor to come in on Monday and Wednesday to make their employees sweat. Like NBC’s popular reality weight loss show, “The Biggest Loser”, results can be dramatic. But it’s never easy. So far 20 women have signed up for the challenge. They use their lunch hour to…
Nearly a week after a judge criticized its campaign disclosure law, City Council considered making amendments Thursday to dial down what Councilmember Jim Rogers called the law’s aggressiveness. “I guess you could look at [the original ordinance] as a Cadillac,” Rogers said. “And this one here, I guess you could look at it as a Ford.” The city’s current campaign law requires a committee that receives more than one-third of its money from contributors outside of Richmond to write on…
