Locally Richmond: Jered’s Pottery
on November 27, 2015
When local restaurants and chefs strive to cook with locally sourced ingredients and then outsource their dinnerware, their efforts for to stay local are diminished. Jered’s Pottery wants to change that.
Founded in 2000 by Jered Nelson, Jered’s Pottery works out of Richmond, CA designing fine dinnerware for some of the world’s top chefs and restaurants with what Nelson calls “California clay.” It’s a personal mix made with materials found in our own state’s backyard.
Nelson is also proud to bring artisans back into the manufacturing process in the United States. So when he relocated his business to Richmond this year, a city with a strong history of industry and manufacturing, it felt right.
Whilst striving to be environmentally conscious, the work that Nelson has completed over the past few years can now be seen in restaurants all over the country. Examples of his work can be seen in San Francisco at Coquetta or Michael Mina SF and many others.
When crafting plates, cups or other dinnerware, he tells us he doesn’t compete with the food, he just wants to make it look good.
