North Richmond Annexation
on September 14, 2018
North Richmond is an unincorporated community in West Contra Costa County and is almost completely surrounded by the City of Richmond. The idea of annexation, or integration, of North Richmond into the city has been raised for decades. In 2017, it came up once more and residents are currently discussing the possibility.
In this video, we interview LaShonda White, senior management analyst to the city of Richmond, to hear about the city’s plans for North Richmond. We also interview Princess Robinson, community engagement manager at North Richmond’s Urban Tilth, and longtime North Richmond resident Leonard Lakhan. We’ve also filmed a North Richmond community group that who is working hard to prevent annexation.
