Three shootings over the weekend, none resulting in homicides

on December 17, 2012

Three shootings occurred in Richmond over the weekend. None appear to be gang-related, police said, and all of the victims are expected to live.

On Friday, shortly after 8 p.m., police responded to a call for a shooting on the 3400 block of Richmond Parkway. A man was transported to a local hospital with gunshot injuries to his abdomen. Police have one person in custody.

The second shooting occurred around 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the 2700 block of Macdonald. A man in his early 20s received a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his head. He was treated at and released from Doctor’s Hospital.

Later that evening at 10:52 p.m., police responded to a Shot Spotter activation, which was followed by several citizen calls. A man in his early 20s suffered gunshot injuries to his leg.  He was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

If you have information related to any of these shootings, you can call the anonymous tips hotline at (510) 232-TIPS (8477).

Great job by RPD in responding so quickly! I wonder how many lives have been saved by the Shot Spotter system?
