Meet Richmond’s espresso maestro: Catahoula Coffee

on September 12, 2014

Catahoula Coffee, a much-loved cafe and roastery in Richmond, is slated to open their second location in Berkeley on Sept. 13 with limited hours. Tim “Timber” Manhart founded Catahoula Coffee, located at 12472 San Pablo Ave, in 2008.

Manhart told our reporters during a visit last week that well-meaning friends warned him that an artisanal coffee roaster would flounder in Richmond. Instead, Catahoula quickly gained a foothold in the Bay Area’s coffee culture and now enjoys a loyal following, so much so that Manhart jokingly calls the fans of his business “Catahouligans.”

The second location will have their grand opening in October.
