Richmond’s new BMX park transforms abandoned lot into community hub

Jasmine Malabed and Dennis “D2” Hoskins founded the park as a community space for youth and adults to enjoy themselves on two wheels. Dirt World has been a two-year long community effort with hundreds of volunteers donating their time and money, and construction companies donating 4,000 yards of dirt. The park has completely transformed the area: where there once was an empty lot, littered with trash and tagged with graffiti, is now a vibrant space bustling with activity and art. The park has some of the largest collective of graffiti artists who have been tasked with painting beautiful murals.
